The Autoads project involved building a video rendering engine that integrated with the Carsales platform and generated ads on demand and at scale. Every seller on the platform received five bespoke car commercials all with a unique combination of clips and personalised audio. Over the campaign we generated 6.5TB of video equating to 800,000 individual ads.
The rendering engine was build with a combination ffmpeg and serverless technologies in particular step functions and lambda with a bespoke management tool to handle errors and failed renders.
The entire project was built in Python with React JS on the front end.
The campaign won a silver at Cannes and best in show at Caples.
